Noise and graininess usually occur when a video is shot with poor lighting, when the ISO of the camera was unusually high when the video was being recorded or when the camera used in recording the video does not have the right specs. But for normal everyday exposed shots I though Neat Video was okay, so for everything else in my film I used the built-in denoiser in Resolve.Removing noise and graininess from videos is easier than ever. I used it on my film for about three or four shots which were right on the razor's edge of being unusable and I was astonished how well I was able to recover them. For $99 it's a steal and should be used as a surgical tool when you really need it. You need to tweak the settings with a light hand but the results can really save some seriously dodgy shots. However, I did buy the Neat Video plugin which delivers a surprisingly powerhouse noise reduction for low light situations. Especially in light of the fact that Davinci Resolve is free and their built-in denoiser has gotten pretty damn good, especially if you learn how to use it (This is where a tutorial can really help you out).
